Claudia Simão is a chemist working in materials science. She has received her MSc degree in Chemistry in Instituto Superior Técnico- Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (IST-UTL) in 2007. As an undergraduated student to fulfill the master thesis, has worked for one year in the R&D department of the belgian company Altachem NV.
Still in 2007, started her PhD has a Marie Curie fellow in Insitut Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), working in synthesis of polychlorotriphenylmethyl radicals and tetrathiafulvalenes for ITO and gold surface functionalization by self-assembly monolayers.
In 2011, has obtained her PhD degree with the thesis untitled ‘Self-assembly of electroactive molecules as wires and switches” in Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona. From 2011 until 2015, engaged in a post-doctoral research position in the Phononics and Photonics Nanostructures group (P2N) in Institut Català de Nanotecnologia (ICN) working in directed self-assembly of block copolymers for phononic applications.
Since 2015, is Senior Scientist and Head of the Printed Electronics group inside the Functional Printing & Embedded Devices Department, at Eurecat – Centre Tecnològic de Catalunya (FPED@Eurecat) developing innovative solutions for printed electronics and smart surfaces for conformable devices.
